Question: My essay topic is to discuss the author’s use of symbols in the novel. I’m not sure what to write for a good thesis. Would these work?

“John Knowles uses symbols such as, ex. ex. ex. to show ex. ex. ex.”
“John Knowles uses symbols to develop the themes in the novel”.
